I work for a web development division of a large company that has both Microsoft/IIS/SQL
and Linux/Apache. I spent the last year learning ActiveServer/VBScript, COM/DCOM/MTS
in Visual Basic, and Microsoft SQL Server. I am trying to decide what to
learn next. Should I go to XML? Should I try to move into non-Microsoft technologies
such as Perl or JavaServerPages Scripting? (I took a sememster of Java back
in school a couple years ago). I'd rather not go back and re-learn C++/VisualC++.
I guess I feel there's easier money to be made elsewhere.

Comments welcome!

I am in a similar boat. got certified as MCSD(VB), MCDBA and MCSE and am now
looking to expand. I am returning to Java and adding in XML. For one, C# is
alot like Java and gives best of both worlds between ease of use of VB and
power of C++. I have taken some C/C++ classes and have some experience in
it, but lugging around a MFC book is not my idea of fun.
straight C/C++ is fun.
