Hi,
I have recently completed the Sun Certified Java Programmer Certification
with 81%. I also have experiance in developing EJB's for a couple of projects.
What are my chances of finding a job in the US. I dont have a degree yet,
but have a proffesional qualification. I'm living in Sri Lanka.

Thanks,
Gavin

Gavin,

If you have read some of the previous postings, I mentioned that before.
But anyway, I don't mind to repeat that again here.

The demand for Java programmers varies from region to region within the US.
My friends in the Bay Area told me that it is not easy to find Java
programming jobs out there, primarily because of the downfall of the dotcom
companies. But in other regions, like the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas
for example, Java skill is still in hot demand.

I assume that you are talking about working in the US with H1B visa. Since
the US economy is still slow and companies are laying off people. Many
companies are unlikely to hire H1B workers. Your best bet is to contact the
consulting firms. Consulting firms are "big time" employers of H1B workers.
IMHO, they are the modern day "sweat shops", heehee, but that's beyond the
scope of this post.

Well, hope this helps.

simon.
