Was shopping for a computer mouse yesterday when I realised it sounds a bit strange to refer to more than 1 as mice. Is this the correct grammar? What if someone had invented some gadget, and for whatever reason, called it a goose, should we refer to a bunch of them as geese? What if the inventor had chosen to call it 'trousers'. Would we go into a computer shop and ask for a pair of trousers, even though we only required 1?
I wonder.

Yep, it does sound a bit odd, but here in Australia, the popular electronics magazine 'Silicon Chip' refers to them as 'mouses'. Which is correct?
