Error attempting to import excel data

I get an error when trying to import data using the entreprise manager.

I can see the data in the spreadsheet in preview, but when I click next,
I get the error:Select Permission denied on provider.

This is despite the fact that the spread sheet is on my desktop and I am
logging into the remote server using windows permission.

Any ideas?
