Why should this surprise us?? They do not want a Java they cannot control
or make proprietary,
nor JavaScript, nor CSS, HTML, nor do they want any programming language
in
existence that doesn't come from Redmond.. I say GO LINUX, and INPRISE with
Delphi and
C++ Builder for RAD Linux development!! Go IBM with Developer Tools for Linux,
go Oracle with Linux
development, Cygnus, etc.. Let's show MICROSOFT HOW WE REALLY FEEL!!
MAD AS **** AND DUMP THE ARROGANT Monopoly..

I hope they die a slow and painful death! I am sick and tired coding one
way for Microsoft, and another
way for everyone else! They are proving everyday, Judge Jackson's decision
is the right one.

P.S. Pro Microsoft people please don't write me.. I voiced similar words
to Netscape when they refused to
support ActiveX. It isn't the company and/or software I hate, it's the "play
our way or not at all" attitude
I detest! This will eventually be their downfall!! Don't believe it? Look
at Apple and OS/2, same
problem. Keep it proprietary and they will come.. These two learned the hard
way, Microsoft is
about to become the third.

There have been many more companies who have failed with proprietary products
than just the 2 you mentioned. Microsoft will be far from only number three.
One that comes to mind is Digital Equipment Corporation from the early 90's
& before. AAMOF, setting up barriers to entry is the only proven way that
an organization can grow beyond a certain size in our economy. I believe
that if Red Hat, Sun, Inprise or even Oracle and IBM could trade places with
Microsoft they would do so in a heartbeat ... and be as insistent on having
it their way, or more so.

I am no fan of Microsoft, the company, but unless you are into technology
for technology sake they have the most practical solution set on the market.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Why programmers whine that they
"hate" <pick your company> is beyond me. If you really hate them, put your
money where your mouth is and stop using their products. Ah, I see it's gone
quiet all of a sudden. Realized perhaps that Microsoft is your feeding trough
have we?

Netscape refused to support ActiveX but worse, did not supply an alternative.
That's the crime. Don't whine unless you have a solution.
