I found it interesting that this senior editor started out with
"IBM hunkers down on another OS bandwagon with Linux announcements."
As a head line and then offered this
"A generation ago, there was Fortran. Later came VB. Then Perl, C++, Java,
and Java 2. Now it's Linux's turn."
as some sort of proof that they were. Since when were programming languages
OS platforms. Yes, I know the Java directions can be an OS unto themselves,
but Perl and Fortran? I think this senior editor shoudl have had some more
junior person proof his stuff for technical accuracy.
