Interesting that you chose to take that out of context. Immediately
before the part you quoted:

: "We are going to include .Net Framework as an optional component, so
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
: that a (PC maker) has the option to include it on their PCs,"
: Cullinan said.

What's your point? The article specifically states that .NET will be
part of SP1 and that SP1 will be available through Windows Update. You
didn't refute Patrick's quote, you merely broadened it.

That there will be two versions of SP1 - with and without the .NET
framework. Who's headline and selective quote made it appear that
there would only be one SP1, and that it would include the f'work.

No, it specifically states that the .NET framework will be an
"optional component" of SP1, aimed at manufacturers rather than end
users.

BOTH versions - with and without the optional framework.

> You didn't refute Patrick's quote, you merely broadened it.

I refuted the false implication in the way he presented it. Given the
likely difference in size, relatively few end users are likely to
download and use the larger SP1 version.

It was not taken out of context, and even if it was, I posted an exact link
to the article from which I quoted which provides full context thus contradicting
your assertion.

Woohoo! Aren't you excited that it will be offered so easily to the winxp
users? I am. Might even be a recommended update (ie. most people will
just take it).

You seem confused. All that can be reasonably concluded from the
article is that PC's will either come preloaded with the framework or
users can install it themselves.

I see nothing to support your claim. I'm not saying you're wrong. I am
saying that the article you're pointing to doesn't support your
statement.
