Hi,
try "Thinking in Java" from http://www.bruceeckel.com .
It is also available for free download from the website.
bye
If you are just beginning with Java here's another good book. Java How to Program ( check for latest edition ). Its authors are Deitel & Deitel and published by Prentice Hall.
I quite like the Eckel book, it's a relatively fast moving book. Other gooduns in order of preference are "Java in Two Semesters" by Charatan & Kans. and "Java 2 Game Programming" by Petchel, which despite it's focus on games covers a wide range of classes & techniques.
are these books international editions? i might see them in the local bookstore. or i'll have to order it to get it.
You should be able to get them. Amazon.com doesn't seem to know "Java in 2 Semesters" which is the one I learned from although amazon.co.uk can get it, so you prob can get it one way or another.
The other one is available internationally.
