How much prior education or familiarity do you have about computer science?
Check this online resource, I found it good -

i wanna order that cd called ( Thinking in Java ) but i dont know which version should i order.. any suggessions?
the newest version of the book (including Java 5, generics, etc.) is in most bookstores and available through Amazon, etc.
thinking in java edition 4 you get it.. it seems to be good as far as i have seen. and if u could have a minimal knowledge about java then u can do miracles with bruce's explanation in that book... if u r not able to get 4 get 3.. that will do..
Memee,
If you are in the U.S., send me a private message with your snail mail address and I will send you a copy of new edition of "Thinking in Java" as well as another beginning Java book called "Ground Up Java."
Thanks,

I'm sorry; I would like for you to have them but the cost to ship those books internationally would be more than the value of the books themselves.
