Multi level inheritance

Hi,
I would like to know whether there is any performance degradation due to
multi level inheritance in JAVA.

I am thinking of extending the basic SWing components for use in my applications
so that other developers need not worry about setting the color, font size,
etc and some common functionality like implementing the listeners. I would
also like to know whether this is feasible or not

Yes, this is feasible. I have a class that extends JPanel to make its
background white and set a standard border. I didn't worry about
performance, there's thousands of lines of code in Swing and my few extra
lines aren't going to make much difference.
