Hi,
A lot of my friends told me that I have to learn JAVA because it is a very
good programming language. Can someone tell me why JAVA is such a good programming
language? I have been thinking about doing self study for JAVA. Do you
think it will be hard? I would appreciate if any of you are willing to share
your insight about JAVA. Thank you.

its popular because it follows the write once run anywhere thingy ... its
not windows or unix, or linux, or whatever specific. Typical languages like
VB (as an example) will only run on windows. Most java tools (api's) use
the same langauge syntax so you can often just make use of a new api without
learning a new language once you alredy know Java.
Is it hard, well - yes it is, its harder than VB - but its easier than C++.
It is also harder than C Sharp the new MS langauge which is also cross
platform and a bit like VB and Java...but thats in early days. Is it hard
really depends on what you have done before.
If I was you I would learn it if you have the opportunity ....cant really do
you any harm - and it pays very well.

Java? Nothing beats a good cup of coffee, eh? As for doing self study for
learning how to make Java, well that should be pretty easy... get a mug,
java granuales, some boiling water...
Seriously, Java is a fantastic language. It's based on C++, but with a lot
of the harder to figure out stuff cut out (pointers etc.). So, if you're
familiar with that then learning Java will be easy to do at home. Otherwise
think about this - How easy is it for a mecanic to fix a car as opposed to
a house wife? If you know programming then Java will be easy to get into,
otherwise it won't.
