Connection Problem with Oracle
Hi,
I am VB Programmer and this is procedure I use with Oracle connection
cn.Open "Provider=MSDAORA.1;User ID=xx;Password=xx;Data Source=xx"
cn.Close
If cn.State = 1 Then cn.Close
cn.Open "Provider=MSDASQL.1;DSN=GoldSmith;Password=xx"
But it takes atleast 5 to 10 seconds to open a connection.Please help to
spped up my connection

This isn't unusual. Ten seconds may be a bit on the high side but five seconds to create a
connection is reasonable. Network configuration can play a part in the Oracle setup.
BTW, you can implement connection pooling automatically by using the same connection string
(including UserID and Password) for each client. This will improve performance considerably.
You may also want to try using the Microsoft OLEDB Driver for Oracle instead of the SQL driver.
