Creating VB/ASP.NET applications on WinXP?
I don't get it, so I hope someone can help me understand what I'm doing wrong.
I did a fresh install of Windows XP RC1 on my test machine. It connects to
the web fine, and it was "activated".
I then did an install of Visual Studio.NET Beta 2. When I did this, it detected
that I didn't have IIS configured correctly, nor FrontPage extensions. I
followed the documentation and set both of these up and was then able to
install VS.NET successfully.
I can create new VB.NET apps fine except for ASP.NET ones.
Whenever I try and create an ASP.NET application it complains about not being
able to create \\localhost\...\WebApplication1.
It gives me a couple of other options to try like the explicit local address
"C:\inet...\...\WebApplication1" or whatever it is, but all of them get rejected.
I'm figuring it's an obvious security issue, but having never dealt with
this side of application development before, I have NO idea what to do.
Can anyone help me?

Re: Creating VB/ASP.NET applications on WinXP?
All i can say is, i had the same experience in a Win2000/.Net beta 1 configuration.
The solution i found (probably not the best one) was to format the machine,
install windows, then IIS and finally VS.NET. This worked, but it 's a bit
radical.
