Urgent help needed ASP.net and IIS

    Hi all,
"ASP.net is independent of IIS". I need more insight on this sentence.
Does this mean that ASP.net can run without IIS or what it is exactly? please
    reply.

ASP.NET is not integrated into (a part of) IIS, but IIS is the required web server under which
ASP.NET web pages must be hosted.

ASP.NET requires IIS version 4.0 or higher running on NT 4.0, Win2K, or Win XP Pro. It is not
supported under Personal Web Server (as ASP is) or Win XP Home edition.

    Hi Mr. Paul,
Thanks for the information provided. Further I would like to know whether
IIS is required to save Sesion states or application states? Please reply.

    Regards,
    Aravind

    Hi,

Session & Application are intrinsic objects of ASP. In order to execute ASP,
you would require web servers - IIS or PWS.
