    ASP.NET newbie Question

I just installed MS VS.NET (Professional); I'm running on XP Pro.

When I attempt to create an ASP.NET project, following the directions from
the sample, I can't because I don't have IIS installed. I just want to run
a few samples. It is meaningless for me to buy/install IIS because I'm merely
developing, not deploying an application. Is there a way to install the
NT Services or DLL's required to do develpment for localhost only?

    Bill,

There is no need to buy IIS, but you will have to install it. You can install
it from the Add/Remove applet in the control panel via the Add Windows Components
    - if you are running XP Pro. If you are running Home Edition you will have
to search the MS site for a download.
