I have a job interview today at a company that builds electronic equipment
for a very specific specialized use (including the military). On their job
page they have a Software Engineer position that requires C and VB
experience, plus a degree in electronics engineering. I do not qualify.

The job I'm interviewing for is apparently a completely different job than
what is advertised on their page. I am a contractor, and the agency that
set me up for the interview told me I should know VB and TCP/IP.

Now I have some VB background, as well as some TCP/IP background. I also
know a little bit of C/C++. But I'm not sure how confident I should be in
this interview. I have more VBScript experience than VB experience (my VB
experience is mostly in compiling very simple ActiveX DLLs) and as for
TCP/IP, I have a working familiarity with the basic fundamentals, and I
built a very stripped-down HTTP proxy server in Java a few months ago.

Considering these folks are obviously seriously technically-minded, I do not
know if this opportunity is one I will fit in well. I'm mostly a web /
database / ASP guy...

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jon
