I've been very tempted to go for a JAVA certification recently because I would
like to make a career change and try something new.

My main background is with mainframe cobol and DB2 and also Microfocus Cobol.
Do I need the certification to get started with a JAVA career? Are there
other languages that should be learned when using JAVA?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
