Pay rate for C++ programmers by area

I am researching the pay rates for different areas of the US for C++ programmers.
I am a computer science student and I am currently researching for a paper.
The subject of my paper is "Pay Rate for C++ programmers by area."

I would like to find out what the average pay rate for C++ programmers in
the midwest, east, west, north and south regions of the US. I am trying
to decide on where to relocate after I graduate school. If anybody can help
me on this I would greatly appreciate any leads that you might be able to
lead me to.
