    database alternative

    Hi there,

I've been having a heck of a time trying to make Java applications and
servlets gain access to MySQL databases. I'm ready to throw in the
towel! I'm wondering if any of you out there can recommend a more Java
friendly database system. The only reason I selected MySQL was because
it was free. I guess you get what you pay for

    Please advise.

Umm, what kind of problems are you having?? I've used MySQL with java very
successfully on a half dozen or so applications. It's really pretty easy
once you have the server set up properly. Just use the connecter/J jdbc
driver at http://mmmysql.sourceforge.net/ and connect as you would to any
other dbms. If you need assistance, I would be happy to help
