    Unhappy Image in an applet

    Hi, there !
    I have this code for an image...

    Graphics g = getGraphics();
    Image Im;
    Im = getImage(getCodeBase(), "xxx.gif");
    g.drawImage(Im,50,50,this);

    but nothing happens

    I would like to avoid the use of the paint() method, all examples use it (like there was no other way !!)

    I have the JBuilder 7 Personal edition

    Well, you could try something like this:

    // Instantiate picture to type JLable
    JLabel picture = new JLabel(new ImageIcon("somepicture_GIF_or.jpg"));
    // somepicture_GIF_or.jpg is in the same directory as the class files in this example

    // Add it to the content pane
    getContentPane().add(picture);
