Serial port communication please help
I want to use the serial port to recieve an 8bit byte and also able to send an output to the serial port(8 bit aas well).
So far I find out a package called communication API but can't figure out how it work, can anyone drop me a hint or send an example code for learning.
When I was working in Sony (as a Summer job) part of one of our jobs (I say our, but I wasn't working on it, I was busy with something else) was to create a Java class that was capable of interacting with another system using the serial port. I was, however, told that Java doesn't handle any serial port communications and as a result they had to learn a bit of C and create it all in that.
So, my answer to you would be that it cannot be done in Java, and instead you need to use the JNI (Java Native Interface) and write a C module to handle it. If anyone knows different I'd be interested in knowing.
Thanks and hope that helps.
