NIO: Buffer vs. Plain Old Strings
I'm a jr. level java programmer and I use my spare-time to try not-so-new things in languages like Java, PHP..
If that doesnt say enough about my existence (lol), I'm trying to test out the java.nio.* package by developing a simple chat server/client(s) program.. (Something I've already been successful with using java.net.ServerSockets) ...
my question is: Do I have to use the ByteBuffer if all want to do is send strings to and from the server...? Using Nio asynchronous networking already feels pretty complex without having to understand the concept of Buffers and bytes, conversion, etc.
Thanks in advance...
