applet not working
I have an applet that reads from a text file on my server. The applet is also located on my server. I have written a policy file, and put an appropriate entry in the java.security file, yet when I bring up my servers homepage on another machine, it comes up as a grey box.
On the machine with the browser trying to run the applet, the java console delivers this message: "java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission filename.here read)
Can anyone help me with this problem? I thought applets were allowed to read by default and didn't even require a security policy?!? But it still won't work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks, I'm losing hair.
