    server connections

is it possible to listen on the ports of your pc and monitor the information being sent to a server that another piece of software has connected too.

And is it possible write a program that can send information to an active port which is already being used by other software without making another connection to the same server?

There are some restrictions, but I'm pretty sure it can be done.

Maybe, but I don't think you could do that easily with Java.

What are you trying to hack?

I never said illegal...just what you were trying to hack... ;-)

Well, I think you're going to have some problems since you don't know the internal structure of the packets that are being sent. If they are sent using sequence numbers your extra packets could just be ignored anyway.
