HELP with installation
I have followed the steps on the java website to install the java kit and netbeans on my comp, but i cannot get it to run applets. This problem persists in both netbeans and appletviewer via command prompt. I hav downloaded the latest version 1.4.2 and am running xp pro.
Whenever i try and run a applet ive written OR one ive downloaded the same error mesge apears...
"start:applet not initialized", and its just a plain white screen.
The java files are compiling via command prompt but not running, help me please
cheers

Can you view applets normally?
For example, when you go to:
http://java.sun.com/openstudio/index.html
Can you see a clock ticking?

OK, your Java installation is fine - this suggests that you've got the coding wrong. I'm guessing it's the HTML that points to the class file.
Follow the following tutorial to create a basic applet:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutor...a/win32.html#3
Does this work?
