how to: listen for change in ip-address?

    this must look very newbie,

as i don't have a fixed IP address, I get one assigned from my ISP, i must change several files with a hardcoded IP number every time this occurs.

it's all straightforwarded stuff but i must have a blackout as I can't find the api to get the ip number that is listed when you do 'ipconfig' on windows xp.

    i would appreciate a clue... :-) thanX.

noting also that it is not a "listen for change" type of thing.. there wont be any form of announcement when your machine changes IP, youll have to periodically check it.. say, every 5 minutes
