Applet woe!! Access Denied

Hello can anyone please help me??

I've written a simple applet game and wish to host it on my website. The problem is that the game works fine on the applet viewer but when I try to run it via a web browser i get the following error message from the java console

java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission data\tile0.gif read)

The problem is a security issue trying to read the gif files needed.

Anyone got any ideas how to solves this??
