Making it wait
My friends and I have a bloated dynamic website written in Perl. We're now trying to change it to having the Perl access the database and produce XML that will be sent to a Java application to run an XSL transform on it giving us the webpage. My question is how do I create an application that will simply run, waiting for the XML input to spit out the result. Rather than starting a new process for every page access. I've got one written to be able to open up and XML, and an XSLT file ouputing the results to XSLT, but you can imagine I don't want to have the Perl module write to disk everytime a page is accessed. Also implicit in this question is...Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to effectively get the data (XML) from the Perl mod to the Java app? Thanks for any help.
