    saving preferences

How could I save a user's preferences of the window's size, a table's column order, etc... Would I have to get all the different sizes and save it out to a file and reapply everything once loaded?

I allow for a preference save file in gui dialog. I save at the end if the user wishes but reteive at the start (if file is there) and use as the defaults.

Naturally, with me a Java begineer, this has been in C or C++ but should be the same for Java.
    Hope that helps.

short of serializing the table itself to disk (but not he table data if thats possible) you would need to populate a Properties object with all the info you wanted, and serialize that..
