    Volunteer Java Programmer

    Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on the board. What I wanted to know is if anyone knew of any volunteer programming opportunities that I could engage in to gain additional Java programming experience. Thanks in advance.

I find it best to give yourself an assigment, something useful but not too hard, then have a go at it, its a good way to learn... thats kind of what im doing now, ive been application developing for a while, so i thought id have a go at avery simple game. Its good fun!

****, I could have used you two months ago when I was doing my dissertation! :P But yeah, what Kram says is a good idea. When I was learning Java a year ago I just sat down and programmed an othello game. Just the board and the rules, no AI. It is a lot simpler than it may sound, but it is good practice. Looking back at it now the programming is terrible, but I certainly learned a lot from it.

well, that kindoff depends on your current experience....

I'm working on a Swing application, combined with XML. This app is meant to be used for managing my DnD campaign data

Let me know if you're interested.
