name = aName

Hi,
could anyone tell me the role of aName in this? Why is it being passed to the method that it is, and why is it being copied into the variable name? Couldn't name "pick up" the value of aName another way, without there even being a need for the variable aName?

EDIT: It appears my jpg was too big to be attached.
