Question Hiding and Closing Windows Cmd Prompt

I am using textpad to compile and run my Java applications.

I was just wondering is there any way of hiding the cmd window once my program is running ( i am not using it in any way) and close when i finish using my program?

If it has something to do with batch files - i don't know anything about these!!

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks in advance

Compile your application into an executable jar file. You
can click it like an ordinary application icon, and there
is no dos shell hanging around.

I think you could also run your application with javaw.exe instead of java.exe
