positioning a textfield or a button

hi, im new to java but i know the basics. im looking to position textfields and buttons in an applet. i searched on google and the only way i found is by using GridBagLayout. I couldnt get this layout working. Are there any easier ways to position textfield and button in an applet on load?

    Thanks

The GridBagLayout is not exactly the easiest layoutmanager to use. It may often be
easier to use a combination of different layoutmanagers (panels w.in panels) and setting
the orientation and horisontal and vertical gaps. You should try that out.
