    SQL Server 2000 connectivity

    Hi,
I want to ask something about SQL server 2000 client connectivity.
I have a problems when I'm trying to connect to the SQL server. The operation system is Windows Server 2003. I have add the server alias on Client Network Utility tools using Name Pipes protocols. But still I can't
connect my computer to the server

    the error message is
"Sql Server does not exists or access dinied"

But my computer(using personal edition SQL server) can be dettect from the server

    Do you have any Idea?

    Thanks for your help

    Chris

Are you using a valid login? If using an NT login, it would need to be added to the SQL-Server logins.

Do you get the error immediately or after some waiting, maybe 10-30 seconds? If you get a delay it's likely you've misspelled the server name, the server isn't actually running or it's not listening on named pipes. If there's no delay there's probably a security issue.
