bypass the file system (?)
I would like to know if there is a way for me to write a piece of data to a flash (USB) drive that will not show up when someone looks at the contents of the drive in explorer. Essentially what I would like to do is to create a serial number on the drive that I can read in VB but that will not show up in normal file viewing operations. The end result is to have a serialized USB lock for the application that I am writing.
I have looked into such devices that are made specifically to be used as a lock, but they have far less memory space on them than I need. If I can accomplish this, then I will have a lock with up to 4GB of space for other data.
Thanks
