Best GUI to go for?

Hi

My company is using applets,xml, xsl and one transformation engine to generate html pages. We deal heavy volume of data and use DB2 at abck end.We are discussing about going for some new techenologies to develop more impressive GUI.
Gurus what you guys think about the best one to go for? Pelase keep in mind that this is a financial company. So they don't want that flashy ones..But deals with heavy volume of data and security.
