Here's an open source project to produce a Java Maya but it hasn't had updates in awhile. http://sourceforge.net/projects/jaya/

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply sorry i havent posted back i've been away.

I'm not quite sure what this java/maya program does

so doe's this mean that it would be difficult to create a Java game using Maya for the levels and character side of things?

    Thanks again for your help

    Joe

I think so. As I understand it, Maya is sort of interpreter of a set of graphics functionality. To use it in Java you'd have to have a Java implementation.
