    n3+n2+n+1 selects problem???

The following sentence i saw in http://developers.sun.com/learning/j...628/index.html . What is the n2+n+1 mean?

Traditional "lazy fetching" is incredibly vulnerable to the n+1 selects problem
    - in practice, it is common to see n2+n+1 or even n3+n2+n+1

I tried the link, but it displays a login screen. Could you give us some more code because viewing the web page does not seem to be possible without the login.
