Importing and exporting data between java program and a website
Is it possible to do this? I have a website that just contains a string which I want to assign to a StringBuffer, I will then process this and then export it to a seperate site. What commands do I need to perform this exchange?
There is no (decent) way to export anything onto another site unless that site has
some accessible means of receiving it, like a servlet that takes this string as a
parameter. The transfer could then be done with a HttpURLConnection.
Are you in control of the code running on the other site ?
The situation has now changed. Basically I'm doing a uni project on cryptography. What I am doing is importing an enrypted message from a txt file, and then performing a frequency attack on the cipher text. This part of the code is fine, but to fully automate the process my lecturer wants us to check our results against either an online dictionary or list of words. Is this possible?
I have no idea
this is why you got webservers software for that sort of things, like weblogic or websphere. they allow you to run many kinds of codes and translate them to HTML for the users.
note however, that those wo softwares are very heavy and complicated.
I think servlet will help u in this regard, and u'll hav to maintain a database for this purpose.
If you have confusion on servlet... i sugget discussion at javaranch servlet section
