    Java Graphics Problem

I'm making a checkers game using a java applet. Currently, the board is set up for gameplay. I used Java's Graphics class to draw the board and the pieces. However, whenever I minimize the applet and then maximize it, the checker board's colors disappear. I suppose I must note that the board is in the background and the pieces are in the foreground. I was just wondering how I could prevent this from happening. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

When the applet is maximized, you could try calling repaint(). That might work.
