    Hello there i am new to java so bear with me please. I need to create a router OS simulator so i was wondering is there a way of using a JEditorPane or something to allow users to enter commands at different prompts somrthing like a command prompt but not a command prompt if you know what i mean

    Judging from what you say here I think you could use the static methods defined in JOptionPane (showInputDialog) and do this by using pop-up dialogs.
