Where can I run the applets?

brand new to the Java world...

I am looking to run a java applet (same one) on multiple paltforms:
    Windows 2003/IIS, RH LINUX/vanilla Apache/SSL, AIX/vanilla Apache/SSL

When downloading an applet from a site such as http://javaboutique.internet.com/ can I place it on any machine and have it run?
