ascx control problem

hi friends,
i have developed a menu in .net 2003 in ascx control my problem is i am passing some values in cookies to remember the menu state but the ascx onload event is not working it seems the aspx page is loading before the ascx control can anybody help me.

Same thing u can done using Placeholder Control
drag ur menu contrpl on aspx page and call every conrol on aspx page by using palceholder and write code for passing particuler menu no. in code beind part.............
