Need some help with Eclipse and Java

Hi, all, new here. Taking a Java class and need some help setting up the Eclipse IDE. I have the Java SDK. The teacher suggested using JCreator but others have said Eclipse is far better. The only reason that I would like to use it is because it has features similiar to .NET (drop down auto complete etc.). Anyway, could someone please help me figure out what I need to do to get the Java SDK running on the Eclipse IDE and what packages I need to download for Eclipse to get the drop down auto complete functions working. Thanks again.

p.s. - I have downloaded the Java SDK and stripped down Eclipse IDE but I'm not sure how to merge the two, since I cannot get an editor to appear on Eclipse.

    Hi,

    1. Instal the JDK
    2. unpack and run eclipse

Just be sure if the JAVA_HOME is set to the correct path.

Auto complete and etc is built in

Eclipse will look for jdk directory automaticly.

Anyway to get the executable to run in DOS, instead of the output screen within Eclipse? I was thinking of using a .bat file with JAVAC and JAVA in the command prompt (it worked but is there an easier way?). Also, once the workspace folder has been set in Eclipse (during install), how do you change it to another directory?
