Just what exactly ARE YOU trying to do?

Please provide us with the following ...

    1. Your goal (decompose all aspects)
    2. Your reasoning / sanity for doing it
    3. Who and why people would use it

    problem statement..

    hi

I am currently trying to transfer files between two GSM Modems( using com1 port OR u can say RS232 ). I could achieve this using Hyper terminal in Windows System. but my requirement is to automate the whole process on both ends (transmit and receive). So, I am trying to achieve the same using a java or vb program/application . Can you help me in this regard..??

    regards.

    Post Why?

What is a practical application for your idea?

Is there not already existing methods available to accomplish your task?

    application

I am going to use this in for monitoring a transformer's partial discharge losses from a remote computer placed at a far place. In this i am going to use these GSM Modems for the signal transmitting part.

I'm familiar with the term transformer efficiency, and eddy current loss, but partial discharge loss has me confused.

Can you enlighten me a bit more about it?

discharge is just a EM-Signal. here i am detecting the signal using a sensor. then i want to transfer that signal using a modem to another modem at some other place.

here my main interest is this data transfer..

P.S.: signal is stored as a .txt/.xls file .... i have to transfer this file/file content.

    Post Why?

Why would you want to monitor the inevitable EM field for?

What hardware and method are you using to capture this signal?
