    How to read/write gzipped files

Does anyone know how to read/write gzipped files using standard C++ (not Visual C++!)

    Thanks in advance!

The library zlib is commonly used to write a zip like file stream. I cannot remember if it is slightly different in format than the standard gzip or not, but I am almost certain gzip and zip are slightly different somehow (I think this is just internal endian issues, but I cannot remember).
