    Web Service Cache Question

This is both an ASP.NET and a Web Service question.

What I'm trying to do is utilize a data access component within a web service. Simple enough. However, the data component loads a series of default values (i.e. command objects - which have a limited life span within the cache, connection strings, provider info, etc.) into memory as it runs.

My problem is that it seems that web services doesn't seem to have a mechanism for caching data in the same way that a standard web application has an application cache.

Does anyone know of a way to give a web service an application cache like a standard web application?

Many thanks for any help that any can provide!

cache, I don't think so. But you can enable session in your web service (by setting the scope property to session or application, you can look up the difference). But the problem is that you have to modify your code to take advantage of that instead of caching.

I don't recall seeing web service caching examples. All of the examples I've found are for standard web apps.
