Question Printing and reading bar codes?

    Hello

I got this baby but don't know the first thing about how to print and read bar codes:

Does someone know about this topic, and could tell me more?

    Thank you.

What about printing bar codes? There are tons of OCX's that seem to do this, so I don't know which one to use.

Most of those OCXs should state which bar code scanners they work with.

Our company uses the WASP bar code ActiveX and dll. It will let you print many different bar code types. They also provide good documentation with sample VB code to help you figure out how to implement the control and/or dll. I'm not sure of the cost, but it works well for us.

I think most bar code ActiveX products are like this.

Couldn't you possibly write your own code using VB6's Line function? :P

That is an interesting idea, but you would need code that could interact with your scanner.

There is probably some form of documentation you could get from the vendor that would tell you when each response meant.

I got bored today and wrote a tiny program that creates UPC barcodes - I dunno if they actually work though. Maybe next time I go to the shop I can test one :P

    EDIT:

This particular scanner you posted emulates a keyboard - All you have to do is use the _KeyPress event of a control in VB to read the input

Could you please test my fake barcode? :P
