I'd be interested in hearing your feedback on DevX.

What do you like? What do you not like? What would you like to see us add or change?

We are interested in hearing your feedback!

I like the color scheme and general appearance. Very refreshing and lively for a programming forum.

I LOVE the links to the top DevX Stories.

I also like the fact that the ads are not overpowering when displayed.

Red face BUGS! in the system!

I found a bug with the reply to one of my threads that was actually from a completely different thread. When I tried to report it using the "Contact Us" link I received a Mail Delivery Failure message.
    Error Details:
    Code:
    Reporting-MTA: dns; webg8.iworld.com
    Arrival-Date: Fri, 29 Feb 2008 15:51:58 -0500

    Final-Recipient: RFC822; Jjpalermo@Jupitermedia.com
    Action: failed
    Status: 5.2.1
    Remote-MTA: DNS; mr2.iworld.com
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 550 5.2.1 <Jjpalermo@Jupitermedia.com>... Mailbox disabled for this recipient
    Last-Attempt-Date: Fri, 29 Feb 2008 15:51:58 -0500
The message I attemted to send was this :

    Code:
The following message was sent to you via the DevX.com Forums Contact Us form by Ron Weller.

    --------------------------------

I received an e-mail about a reply to one of my subscribed threads. The interesting thing is that although the thread was one I was subscribed to, the actual reply was for a completely different thread.
After a little research I located the actual thread, the one the reply was for, but it was not one that I was subscribed to.
The e-mail said is was this link, whis is one of mine:
    http://forums.devx.com/showthread.php?t=160692&goto=newpost
But the actual thread was this link, which is not one of mine:
    http://forums.devx.com/showthread.php?t=166762
It looks like you may have a little bug in your reply notification routine...

oh yea and a big delay too ... sometimes it took up to 2 days to get a notification ... if there is any because Hack split threads so this make me automatically unsubscribed from the original thread and the splited one too ... if I don't open the forums I would never know about new updates in too many threads ...
Feedback: I would like to have a subscription & email notification for any new input in my favorite forums ... [not a daily digest] .

I actually got the message. We have a couple of people who get reported posts so we can make sure things are seen quickly. Joe had added his address (Joe is our Forum Manager). Small typo in the address caused the bounce. That is fixed now. Thanks for pointing it out.

As to the issue you were reporting, I'll have to have Joe address some of that.

I do know that we don't have an easy way to allow everyone to subscribe to all posts in a given forum. I don't believe the User CP let's you subscribe at a forum level. You can subscribe to threads once they are there though. Once subscribed to a thread, you can get instant notification.

Moderators are able to get notifications at a post level on a post-by-post basis. But you have to be a moderator for that feature. (Part of the reason for the restriction is to avoid having the system send hundreds of thousands of emails.... )

    Sorry.
