    Using Parallels on a Mac

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any info on how a vb6 app that opens Word as an application, and sends commands/data to it on a PC can do the same thing on a Mac (our app installed under Parallels, but Word only on Mac - not on XP version ) .... or does the user need to purchase Word for the PC, having already purchased it for the Mac?

    Thanks Greg

I don't think there is any easy way to do this. On Tiger and previous versions, Office Mac ran on a Rosetta bridge. Plus I heard that Microsoft's Mac Business Unit stopped supporting scripting or Macros for Office for Mac. Don't quote me, but I believe you would have to rewrite it in AppleScript or Cocoa etc.

You might want to post this on a Mac forum, or check out

    Good luck,

I don't know about Cocoa (never heard of it before your post), but I concur with you that it would need to be rewritten using AppleScript.

I would also agree that as our audience is primarily Microsoft based, it might be a good idea to post this on a Mac forum.
